British Airways will be enhancing its flight schedules between Jersey and London by introducing additional services to London Gatwick, while maintaining its current route to London Heathrow.
The airline has revealed plans to increase its flight frequency between Jersey and London by eight flights per week. BA Euroflyer, a subsidiary of British Airways, will operate 19 weekly flights between Jersey and London Gatwick, while British Airways will offer 21 weekly flights on the London Heathrow route.
The upcoming changes are set to take effect on 4 November 2024 and will continue to offer a consistent service to the United Kingdom’s primary hub at London Heathrow. This was part of the five-year agreement reached in 2021 between Ports of Jersey and British Airways.
By extending its service to London Gatwick, which offers connections to numerous international routes that are popular among residents, Islanders will have access to more than 60 new international destinations, such as Funchal and the Caribbean. The updated Jersey to London Heathrow schedule provides multiple daily connections into London, with a particular emphasis on facilitating access to more than 100 destinations available through British Airways.
Ports of Jersey’s Chef Executive, Matt Thomas, said: “These extra flights will provide a further boost to our connectivity and more choice for passengers. British Airways will station its aircraft in Jersey overnight for the early morning flights to both Heathrow and Gatwick, allowing customers to select a 7am flight to either destination, based on their final stop or connecting flight.
“We are delighted that British Airways remains committed to serving Jersey through its global hub at Heathrow and is now adding further options for islanders to connect through Gatwick.”
Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, Deputy Kirsten Morel, said: “It’s vitally important that we have reliable connections with the rest of the world, so this is great news and illustrates the good work being done by Ports of Jersey. Building our air and sea links not only boosts confidence but also sends a clear message that will encourage investment in both the visitor economy and other sectors.”
British Airways will be updating its schedule to accommodate these changes. Passengers who have already booked flights that will be affected will be contacted in the coming days.
